It was a game, then it wasn't a game, then it was a game again, then it wasn't. Then whatever it was, was apparently cancelled. While Project Milo's final status is still unknown, previously unreleased video of the boy simulator in action shows that Lionead certainly had something quite extraordinary with Milo & Kate.
In Emotion Capture - Directing Milo, drama director John Dower takes a look behind the scenes of the project's 3-year development, and demonstrates some of the technology involved in creating the the tech demos which were shown off at E3 2009, and then again at TED 2010.
"I was brought in to help develop a three dimensional central character and directed motion capture, animation and voice to achieve this," writes Dower. "I was lucky to be so involved as an integral member of the team. As convergence becomes a reality, film makers and games designers must work together to enhance their respective fields."
It's pretty interesting stuff, even if it only turns out to be a speculative look at the possibilities for future game development, and of course, the Xbox 360 Kinect.
