"Here today, ready for tomorrow" was the catch phrase from Microsoft's E3 conference back in June when they originally announced the New Xbox 360 S. While internationally the console was launched "today", South Africa's "today" actually equated to "in 3 months time". Go figure. The good news, however, is that the time vortex affecting our delivery times has stabilized, and "today" really does mean today! Yes, the new Xbox 360 S models are finally in South Africa, and already on sale at local retailers.
The new Xbox 360 S console is smaller, quieter, and has more features than previous versions, with built-in Wi-Fi N, as well as a Kinect-ready port for those looking to cut down on cable clutter. For a detailed look at the new Xbox 360 S, be sure to check out our in-depth feature from earlier this year.
As was the case with the Halo: Reach console bundle, Take 2 is first off the mark with stock of the new standard consoles, with the 4GB and 250GB versions available on 24hr delivery at R3199 and R2399 respectively. Other retailers are expected to receive stock soon (if they haven't already), so we've thrown together a quick table to help those looking to save themselves a few bucks:
| Shop | Version | Price | |
| Kalahari | Xbox 360 4GB | R2399 | View |
| Take 2 | Xbox 360 4GB | R2399 | View |
| Zaps Online | Xbox 360 4GB | R2461 | View |
