Update: Microsoft SA has since clarified that the new Xbox 360 S 4GB console is shipping on 20 August, which means we'll only see it in South Africa "by the end of September, the earliest". We're also told that the Xbox 360 S 250GB model has yet to receive a firm local release date.
Original Story: Microsoft SA has announced that a new Xbox 360 S 4GB console is set to ship to South Africa on 20 August for R2,399.99.
Replacing the now discontinued Xbox 360 Arcade, the new Xbox 360 S 4GB console includes all the recently added features to the Xbox 360 range, with a sleek new design, built-in Wi-fi N, touch sensitive buttons, and a Kinect ready port. Being the Arcade replacement, this SKU includes 4GB of internal flash memory instead of the 250GB of the launch Xbox 360 S, and thankfully is finished off in black matte instead of the finger-print magnet shiny finish seen on the 250GB.
We suspect that with the arrival of the 4GB version we'll see the 250GB version at the same time, however, we've requested confirmation from Microsoft SA, and will let you know as soon as we get a response.
