The next-generation Xbox is expected to arrive at retail by late 2012, with dev kits heading to developers as early as Christmas this year, according to a source over at Edge.
The source goes on to explain that Ubisoft, along with other major developers such as EA, have been working on PCs powered by a bespoke GPU solution provided by AMD containing off-the-shelf components in the interim.
Last week reports surfaced of a possible announcement as early as January next year at CES, with specs for the new Xbox rumoured to include a hex-core CPU with 2GB of DDR3 RAM.
It's all just rumours for now, but with the current generation of consoles showing their age, and console manufacturers looking to get a head start on competitors, don't be surprised if things become official in the next few months.
