Complaints of unreadable text streamed in after the demo for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts hit XBLM last Wednesday. Users complained that the text, which is used for the majority of the story line and missions, is too small and scrolls off-screen too quickly, making it unreadable on most SDTVs. Even gamers on HDTVs have reported that it is difficult to read the text instructions. Rare's George Kelion (Rare Community Manager) had the following to say on the problem:
Unfortunately, this is an issue that doesn't look like it will get changed. I don't want to bore you with the technical side of things (I really don't understand it all myself), but the long and the short of it is that the text you see in the demo will be the same as that which you find in the retail version of the game.
I'm sorry that we weren't able to address this issue as nothing would please us more than turning all your complaints into gleeful responses, but it's simply something that's too expensive in terms of time, resources and money to alter.
When asked whether a patch can fix the text at a later stage, George Kelion responded:

I guess Rare didn't learn anything from Capcom's Dead Rising... which had the exact same problem. Sure it ain't a game breaking glitch, but for some gamers it could be a deal breaker.
[UPDATE] Rare has doublebacked on their statements and say a patch will be made available.
[UPDATE 2] A patch has been released to increase the in-game text size.
