Xbox Gaming in South Africa

Gears of War and South Africa seems synonymous with "getting screwed", and from the look of things, that tradition isn't about to change. Microsoft SA has confirmed with local gaming site LazyGamer that the highly anticipated Gears of War 3 Epic Edition will not be coming to South Africa.

"SA will, unfortunately, not be getting the EPIC edition of GOW3," said a Microsoft SA representative in a statement to LazyGamer. "An exclusive deal was signed overseas, and a few markets had to give back their allocations to allow for it to happen."

The rep went on to explain that the publisher has been in touch with local retailers to remove listings of the Epic Edition, and anyone who has already pre-ordered will receive "an additional limited edition item" to help ease the pain.

So there you have it. No collectible Marcus Fenix statue, no custom multiplayer skins and no behind-the-scenes glimpses at the art and design of Gears of War for South Africans.

Currently it looks like only the US and UK will be getting the Epic Edition, so if you want the full Gears of War 3 experience package, you'll have to order it from overseas.
