Over the past two days there's been a whack of rumors circulating regarding Bioshock 2. Some of the rumors include 2-player co-op, no Big Daddies, spliced dogs, gigantic squid battles, as well as the introduction of the Soviets - all of which have been debunked by 2K Games. You may be asking yourself how such rumors have spread, and it's all thanks to an exclusive first look by the American gaming magazine, Game Informer, which started shipping to subscribers this weekend. Finally, an actual Game Informer subscriber has posted up scans (albeit poor quality), along with a list of changes expected in Bioshock 2:
- Set 10 years after the original, the Big Sister (surviving Little Sister) returns to Rapture and is the antagonist of the story
- Multiplayer has been added
- You'll be playing as the first-ever Big Daddy
- You're a renegade Big Daddy
- You'll have the drill and rivet gun, with the drill taking the place of the wrench
- You don't start off with your own Little Sister, however, fighting other Big Daddies gives you the opportunity to either harvest or adopt one as your own
- You can still use plasmids
- Upgrade trees have become more diverse
- Audio logs return, as well as Fontaine Futuristics added as a level
Some interesting changes. I suspect your Big Daddy won't be as slow as its successors... cause that'll be pretty boring right? What should be noted is that this is the April edition of GI. So what are the chances of it being an elaborate April fools joke? Very unlikely, but we can't rule it out just yet. It's also surprising for 2K Games to reveal so much in such a short space of time, but then again, Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams is expected to release sometime in August/October 2009, so it's not too far off.
[UPDATE] It has been confirmed that you will play as a Big Daddy in Bioshock 2.
