When PopCap Games first revealed that the classic tower defence game Plants vs. Zombies would be making its way to the Xbox LIVE Arcade, we had no idea it would take quite so long for to happen. Now, almost a year later, and PopCap has finally made it official, announcing that a feature-packed Plants vs. Zombies will be with us early next month.
Instead of just giving us a straight port of the PC version, there are a number of new features being added to the mix, including co-op and versus modes, a customizable house where players can track and share their progress through the game, new mini-games and more. Add this to the already ultra-addictive gameplay, with all 50 levels from the original title, 12 new achievements to unlock, all displayed in the highest resolution of any Plants vs. Zombies release, and this is looking like a pretty good way to spend 1200MSP when it lands on Xbox LIVE in early September.
If you're one of those gamers who is still suspicious of digital distribution and you feel safer with a physical product in your hands, PopCap has also announced that Plants vs. Zombies will be released on disc, along with puzzle classics Peggle and Zuma, sometime this Spring, priced at around the $20 mark in the US. Whether we will see the retail boxed edition locally remains to be seen.
