As expected, Activision and Radical Entertainment officially revealed Prototype 2 with a new trailer at Spike TV's 2010 Video Game Awards this morning.
The trailer shows off a new protagonist Sgt. James Heller, who has lost all that he loved while away on a tour of duty for the military overseas, and now finds himself on a mission of revenge, with Prototype 1's protagonist and antihero Alex Mercer the primary target.
From the looks of things, Sgt. James Heller has taken the trailer's tagline to heart - "to kill a monster, you must become one" - and has been infected with the Blacklight virus, imbuing him with similar powers to Alex Mercer.
While the trailer points to a new protagonist, one can't help but ignore the possibility of multiplayer co-op being introduced into the series. Prototype 1 was originally meant to have online co-op, but the mode was eventually dropped. Radical Entertainment's Chris Ansel later commented that they "had some pretty cool ideas about multiplayer and we can't wait to start exploring that stuff" if the original game sold well enough for a sequel.
