Take Two Interactive has announced that their wild west adventure Red Dead Redemption has "sold in" over 5 million units world wide, calling it a "commercial and critical success".
"The successful worldwide launch of Red Dead Redemption reflects the unparalleled creative talent that is a distinguishing strength of Take-Two, and the title has set new benchmarks for quality and innovation," said Chairman of Take-Two Strauss Zelnick. "We are incredibly proud of our creative teams and their success in delivering some of the best interactive entertainment experiences. We have raised our outlook for 2010 to reflect these achievements."
Not too long ago rumours abounded of problems with Red Dead Redemption's development, with an anonymous source claiming that RDR would have to sell 5 million units to recoup development costs. I guess this means Take Two's management are in the clear then.
