There's nothing gamers like more than ripping through hordes of rotting zombies, hence the pending release of the Undead Nightmare Pack for the brilliant Red Dead Redemption, which Rockstar Games has now confirmed will be available from 26 October for 800MSP.
Undead Nightmare introduces hours of a new single-player storyline and brand new multiplayer content. Seemingly overnight, a zombie plague ravages the once bountiful frontier, decimating the landscape and reawakening the dead. In towns, settlements and outposts throughout the world, the uninfected citizens are left to fight for survival against waves of the undead. John Marston must ride out into the vast and terrifying world and survive long enough to find a cure.
Fleshing out the single-player mode, Undead Nightmare will include new challenges, quests and enemies, with four unique zombie classes to fend off, as well as zombie cougars (no, not an undead Demi Moore), bears and other wildlife. New events include Missing Persons which tasks the player with seeking out a lost survivor amongst the zombies, while on the multiplayer side, players can look forward to a new survival mode called Undead Overrun, "where waves of infected attack and players must work together to stay alive against increasingly difficult odds". So, zombie horde mode.
In addition to the Xbox LIVE release, Rockstar announced the Undead Nightmare retail disc, a standalone disc (i.e. you don't require a copy of Red Dead Redemption) which includes the Undead Nightmare Pack, Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack, Legends and Killers Pack, Liars and Cheats Pack, and all the Multiplayer Free Roam modes released so far. Presumably this is the same DLC disc South African retailers hinted at last month, although still no word on the Xmas Edition.
We've sent off an email to local distributor Megarom to find out pricing and availability on the standalone disc. In the meantime, look out for the Undead Nightmare Pack which will be shuffling onto Xbox LIVE on 26 October.
