Robot Entertainment, the team which rose from the ashes of Halo Wars developer Ensemble Studios, has announced Orcs Must Die!, a new fantasy action-strategy game set for digital release later this year.

Orcs Must Die puts players in charge of defending their fortresses from wave upon wave of enemies. Ruthless aggression seems to be the order of the day, with an arsenal of weapons and traps available to eviscerate those filthy orcs and their allies.

“Don’t negotiate with them.  Don’t just maim them.  You must kill the orcs,” insisted Patrick Hudson, CEO of Robot Entertainment.  “Robot exists to make great games that our fans love. Orcs Must Die! is our first original title, and we're counting on players to do what must be done: drive the orcs into oblivion!”

While the developer didn't specify which digital download platforms Orcs Must Die is destined for - likely because a publisher hasn't been announced - we have high hopes that we'll see this action-strategy slaughterfest on the Xbox LIVE Arcade when it releases this "summer" (June-August).
