Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3! Nope, no surprises there. Confirmation came through a Facebook update last night, with the following statement:

Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!

It will be interesting to see just how much innovation and revolutionizing can be accomplished in the already saturated music rhythm genre, but the team behind RB has certainly made headway thanks to services such as the Rock Band Network, so all hope is not lost just yet.

Oh, and if Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me isn't in the set list, I'm suing.
