Rock Band franchise to keep on rocking

The recent announcement that the long-running Guitar Hero franchise has been laid to rest was a bitter pill for rhythm gamers worldwide, leaving many to consider the future of the genre as a whole. Now, almost as if they sensed our fear, Harmonix has come out to set our minds at rest, confirming that the esteemed Rock Band brand will live on.

On the official Rock Band forum the developer made it clear that the show will go on, with Harmonix also extending a conciliatory hand to those from the Guitar Hero camp to climb up onto the Rock Band stage.

In short, the beat of Rock Band marches on. We’re continuing to invest in the franchise and the brand that we have built, and will do our best to serve all loyal band game fans. For rhythm gamers out there who haven’t yet given Rock Band a chance, Rock Band 3 software is compatible with a wide range of instruments, including most Guitar Hero controllers. Looking to the future, for fans that want to switch, we’d happily welcome you over into the world of Rock Band.

Rhythm games are dead. Long live rhythm games.
