Rock Band developer Harmonix has confirmed that the Rock Band Network beta will go live later today, according to a report by Destructoid, allowing users to try out the free authoring tools and upload playable tracks for others to preview and review.

While the RBN Store will not be active when the beta is launched, Harmonix has announced that once the store is open users will be able to download individual tracks for between $1 and $3, with the prices being set by the track authors.

The more musically inclined gamers out there can head over to Creators.Rockband.com to download the tools and get to grips with the rather complicated process of rock'n'roll. Would be great to see some South African bands' songs landing up on the playlists. Seether anyone?
