Just as it teetered on the brink of vaporware, Rockstar's elusive L.A. Noire has turned up again, and all over the cover of American mag, Game Informer. Originally announced back in 2004 and under development funded entirely by Sony Corporation Entertainment America at the time, developer Team Bondi was subsequently bought out by Take-Two and Rockstar Games. At some point in between, apparently, the game went from being a PS3 exclusive to multi-platform because, as any furious PS3 fanboy will tell you, "Microsoft wrote a cheque or something". Or maybe multi-platform releases sell more.
Anyway, as Matthew Kato over at Game Informer confirms, "It's not a PS3 exclusive. It was at one point, but it's coming out for the PS3 and 360."
L.A. Noire is a detective game set in 1940s Los Angeles, and heavily influenced by the film noir style of the time. Expect lots of crime, moral ambiguity, existential ennui, and sex. No release date fixed yet, but it's due out sometime this year.
For now, check out the debut trailer below.
