We all know what the upcoming Xbox 360 Kinect-enabled dashboard is going to look like, but is it really a step up on the current dashboard, and how does the new layout perform? Well, Microsoft is giving "multiple thousands of participants" a chance to find out in the Xbox 360 System Update Preview program, which allows successful applicants the opportunity to download and try out the new Xbox 360 system update before it officially releases to the masses later this year.
Before you run off and sign up, there's a few things you should know:
- It's just a software update through Xbox LIVE, so don't expect a Kinect to pitch up.
- If you are accepted, you won't be able to Party Chat with anyone who isn't in the program. So make sure either all your friends sign up, or you're happy with normal Private Chat and/or Game Chat.
- The program is open to both Silver and Gold members, but priority will be given to Gold members first.
Sound good? Then head on over to the Microsoft Connect site, and fill out the survey. Be sure to read it carefully, and fill in everything correctly to make sure you are accepted.
No dates have been given, but it looks like they will keep it open until the number of available positions is filled, and release the update to successful applicants shortly afterwards.
