At last we have some more info on Splinter Cell: Conviction's co-op mode, thanks to an article in the latest Official Xbox Magazine. This time it's all about 'being predatory'... no more hiding under the stairs like a scared teenager!
According to the article, dissected over at 1up.com, the meat of the co-op game follows two agents, one Russian and the other American, through a four-level prologue campaign expected to last around six hours. Many of the new gameplay elements from the single-player campaign will be included, as well as a number of co-op specific moves.
Splinter Cell: Conviction's co-op designer Patrick Redding makes it all sound rather exciting, "Gameplay is a lot more about bursts of intense action swinging back into stealth and using stealth as a tool. It's less about being invisible and more about being predatory."
Other modes revealed in the article include the standalone challenges, labelled Deniable Ops, which is divided into four game types: "Hunter," a simple kill-em-all affair; "Infiltration," a sort of stealth-only version of Hunter; "Last Stand," where gamers defend an EMP warhead against waves of enemies; and "Face Off" a competitive head-to-head battle amoung random AI opponents.
Splinter Cell: Conviction is set to sneak out from behind a pot plant in February 2010.
