LucasArts has officially revealed Star Wars 1313, a third person action adventure aiming to bring "the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life" with a group effort including input from LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound.
Eschewing the Force powers we're accustomed to, Star Wars 1313 puts players in the role of a bounty hunter armed to the teeth with exotic weaponry and gadgets as he explores Level 1313, the deadly criminal underworld below the surface of Coruscant.
"We're excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing," said LucasArts President Paul Meegan. "Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself."
It's not specified where Star Wars 1313 fits into the overarching Star Wars timeline, but the teaser image on the official web page (in the gallery below) shows a Lambda-class Imperial Shuttle and two TIE Fighters, hinting at a "classic era" setting. New hope for Star Wars acolytes then, still reeling from witnessing a Darth Vader vs. Yoda dance-off.
Expect fresh details on Star Wars 1313 during the madness of E3 next week.
