With Battlefield 1943 smashing sells records, you would think the first thing EA DICE would do would be to rush out a torrent of new maps, guns and shiny helmets, right? Not so, according to producer Gordon Van Dyke, who says that DICE are just too busy to put development time into new Battlefield 1943 content:
We don't have any immediate plans right now, but it's not ruled out. There's a lot of pressure on the team for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ... we don't want to stretch things too thin and and make something that's not up to quality. Battlefield 1942 is a huge game with a lot that we can pull from. We just want to make sure we keep our options open, and make sure that the decision we land on is what's best for everyone. We don't want to be that company that pushes out DLC just for DLC's sake.
In other words, it might happen one day, but there's nothing in the pipeline right now. I guess we should appreciate that DICE aren't just trying to cash in on Battlefield 1943's popularity, but there's only so many times you can play the same old 3 maps before it loses its appeal.
