Fans of the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man will have a double dose of web slinging action to look forward to in 2012, with the announcement that the up and coming The Amazing Spider-Man movie will also be getting a game-tie in.
Developed by resident Spider-man developers, Beenox, The Amazing Spider-Man game will feature an epilogue story occurring after the events of the movie, written by none other than Seamus Kevin Fahey, a man who’s CV includes episodes of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Battlestar Galactica. Gameplay wise, the linear action of the more recent Spidey forays has been sidelined, with free-roaming web-slinging making a return, along with a new Web Rush mechanic, which apparently allows players to pull off "a vast array of moves never before possible" as they roam the city of New York.
The Amazing Spider-Man is set for release sometime mid-2012, with a world premier trailer set to air this weekend at the Spike TV’s Video Game Awards.
