The Gunstringer jumps from XBLA to retail release

Twisted Pixel's platform adventure The Gunstringer, one of the more intriguing Kinect-based titles on the horizon, is not going to be an Xbox LIVE Arcade title as previously planned, with CEO Michael Wilford confirming that the platformer is destined for a full retail release instead.

In a recent video interview with Destructoid, Wilford confirmed that, at the request of Microsoft, the title would be an on-disc affair. A number of Microsoft suits had a look at the colourful motion-controlled game during an "executive retreat", with the consensus being that it deserved a full retail release to bolster the September schedule. Obviously Twisted Pixel complied.

While pricing hasn't been mentioned, it's likely to be a R350 deal, meaning it will be substantially - around R200 or so - more expensive than an equivalent XBLA release at 1200 MSP, but hey, that's the way the corporate cookie crumbles. Look out for The Gunstringer on store shelves in September.
