Because Kinect isn't already creepy enough, it turns out Microsoft is bundling in a Kinect Sensor Calibration Card with all supported software, including the device itself. It's creepy because it's a creepy smiley face.
To calibrate or recalibrate Kinect's accuracy, users will be prompted to move the card back and forth, conspiring matching it up with an on-screen display, so the peripheral can determine the depth of the user's surroundings.
Most Kinects won't require any calibration at all, but at least you can sleep easy knowing there's a smiley face waiting quietly inside your Kinect box under your bed. Just sitting there ... biding its time.
Kinect launches Stateside on Thursday, and everywhere else on 10 November.
