Building on the already substantial character customization options from the first two Saints Row titles, THQ has announced the Initiation Station, a downloadable character creation system for the upcoming Saints Row: The Third.

According to the Saints Row: The Third blog, the Initiation Station will allow you to create your custom character in-game, share it with friends via the community site, and have others download your creations for use in their own game.

No mention is made of when the Initiation Station will be made available for general download, but THQ has stated that those who pre-order Red Faction: Armageddon will be granted access to it a week before the release of Saints Row: The Third.

Saints Row: The Third, officially announced in March this year, is planned for release this holiday season.
