Ubisoft released their third-quarter sales figures today, reporting an increase of 12.9% from the same period last year. Their total sales came to a cool €508 million. This is thanks to a solid showing from their franchise titles such as Far Cry 2 with 2.9 Million units sold world wide, Shaun White Snowboarding with 2.3 Million and Prince of Persia at 2.2 Million units.
It wasn't just sales figures though, and Ubisoft has confirmed they'll be releasing seven franchise titles this coming fiscal year, April 2009 - March 2010. This includes Assassin's Creed 2, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Anno. On top of that, they're introducing 3 new brands including action survival game I Am Alive (delayed due to needing "further development time"), and 4 movie license-based games, of which James Cameron's Avatar, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game and the sequel to Arthur and the Invisibles have been named.
Ubisoft are hopefull of continued growth in the gaming industry for 2009, expecting a market growth of 5-10%. Their lineup does look strong, and considering they still have a few unconfirmed titles to announce, they could well meet their targets.
I'm hoping Prince of Persia will be one of the unnamed three franchise titles. What franchise would you like to see make an appearance?
