To keep gamers entertained while waiting for the next full-blown Prince of Persia title, Ubisoft Montreal and Explosive Barrel have put together a rather nifty free flash-based platformer game based on the 'The Forgotten Sands' storyline.

The flash game takes the upcoming Prince of Persia retail release and strips it down to its core elements, giving gamers a taste of classic platforming action like we recall from days gone by. Keep an eye out for epic boss battles, the princes four new moves, including his rewind trick from The Sands of Time, and original music to set the mood.

It's actually quite a lot of fun, to be honest, but don't take our word for it, head over to the game's site and give it a bash.

The retail version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is set to release locally next week Friday, 21 May.
