Ubisoft could be in the process of putting together a football simulation game to compete with the likes of FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer, according to a report by French site, Jeuxvideo. The report claims that Ubisoft has been working with several English clubs including Liverpool and its captain, Steven Gerrard, to develop the game.
Don't forget, back in 2008 Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot was quite outspoken regarding the publisher's possible involvement in sports games, saying "The sports genre is different - there are lots of good elements there because it is more casual, so it would bring new customers to Ubisoft. So we have something to grow there, and that's what we are doing."
When asked for comment on the validity of these latest claims, Ubisoft pulled out the usual PR response, with a "sorry, but we're not commenting on rumours."
My gut feeling? Expect to see a Ubisoft logo slapped on a footie game in stores before the year is out.
