Randy Couture is one of the most well known mixed martial artists in the sports history, and he is credited with having played a major part in the growth of the UFC.
Now, while still under contract for two more UFC fights, Couture has signed on the dotted line to co-headline the EA branded MMA title, alongside Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko.
In a report from Gamespot, Couture was quoted as saying: "Unless the UFC wants to do a licensing deal with EA, I don't see being in a UFC game happening for me. I have an exclusive deal with EA and I'm very excited about that."
Couture, a five-time UFC champion, will add some real grunt to the EA MMA roster, and one can only imagine that if he jumped ship it's only a matter of time before other big names do the same. No idea what EA is paying Couture to join their camp, but you can guess it's more than a fist full of dollars.
Also new to the EA MMA roster is Strikeforce fighter Jay “The Thoroughbred” Hieron, which brings the list of confirmed playable fighters up to five. Still some way to go before they have anything close the 80+ licensed combatants in UFC Undisputed 09.
