Volatile Games developing Dead to Rights: Retribution

Volatile Games has announced they are currently working on Dead to Rights: Retribution, saying they have "reimagined Dead to Rights for both fans of the franchise and a brand new audience alike".

For those who can't remember the series, Dead to Rights follows the story of cop turned fugitive Jack Slate as he battles the crime bosses of the city underworld. Being part of the K9 unit, Jack also has the help of his trusted dog, Shadow. It basically boils down to a third person action shooter. Although the first in the franchise was fairly well received, the later versions weren't so lucky, with repetitive gameplay and a poor camera system being citied for the low review scores.

Now I'm always hopeful, and the screenshots (below) look interesting, but it's going to take a lot of work from Volatile Games to get this right. Fans will be expecting more of the original, while still being innovative enough to compete with the long list of great titles released in this genre. But I'm jumping the gun here, and it's still early days. Hell, they even said it will introduce an "innovative new hybrid combat system". Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
