Finally! Microsoft has confirmed that the previously Super Elite bundle-exclusive 250 GB hard drive will now be available as a standalone product.
Available in stores today, Xbox 360 introduces the 250GB Hard Drive, which offers more space to store your favorite game and entertainment content. Available at the incredible value of $129.99 (U.S ERP), the 250GB Hard Drive offers more freedom to download the latest demos, Xbox LIVE Arcade games, full game titles with Games on Demand, TV shows, movies and more straight to your Xbox 360 console.
According to the popular online retailer, Amazon, the 250GB standalone HDD will be available from 28 March (though some retailers may have stock from today) in the US at $129.99 RRP (R952) , with the UK getting it a bit later on 16 April for £79.99 RRP (R881).
With Microsoft pushing a digital medium in favour of an alternative such as Blu-ray, storage space will increasingly play a bigger role. The availability of the largest hard drive as a standalone product will do a lot to help remedy this - though, hopefully we'll see more aggressive pricing in the future.
We've contacted Microsoft South Africa and are awaiting a response on availability and pricing in South Africa.
Update: And if you're wondering: Yes, it does include a transfer cable.
Update 2: Local retailer Take 2 has listed the 250GB standalone at R852 (R999 RRP), with a release date of 16 April.
Update 3: Microsoft SA has confirmed that the 250GB will be available locally "towards the middle to end of April" at a RRP of R999.
