It's been a big week for South African Xbox 360 gamers, not only can we now all officially experience the joys of Xbox LIVE, but last night also saw the local launch of Kinect, along with a host of games to make the most of Microsoft's long awaited controller-free motion sensor.
“For us, this is a really big deal,” said Yvette van Rooyen, product manager for Xbox in South Africa. “Kinect literally transforms entertainment and introduces the Xbox 360 console to millions of new people — families, friends and people of all ages. There’s nothing like it on the market.”
Following the US launch last week, where the system has received a relatively positive response from the international gaming press so far, you may be wondering if Kinect deserves a place on your Christmas shopping list. Prospective buyers should take a look at our comprehensive launch line-up preview as well as our various review round-ups to help you with your decision.
On the pricing side of things, the standalone bundle, which includes Kinect and Kinect Adventures, will set you back around R1999 RRP, while Xbox 360 Kinect bundles are also available. Kinect games are set to retail at R399 each.
Below is a quick comparison of the bundles available for Kinect in South Africa:
