It looks like Microsoft has cracked the billion dollar mark from Xbox LIVE generated revenue, with DLC and movies bringing in more than Gold subscriptions, according to a report from Gi.biz.
Microsoft has not yet released their 2010 fiscal results, but if previous claims are accurate then total revenues for Xbox LIVE related content should clock in at around $1.25 billion. This estimate is based on reports that Microsoft earns something close to $625 million from Xbox LIVE subscriptions. Add to that the fact that Xbox’s chief operating officer Dennis Durkin has revealed that revenues from downloadable content, movies and other LIVE sources are exceeding that of subscriptions, and we have Microsoft sitting on top of a pile of money.
If that wasn't enough, Goldman Sachs analyst Sarah Friar has suggested that Microsoft's operating profit has increased six-fold over the previous fiscal year, to a total of $1.04 billion.
We'll have more concrete figures to gawp at once the fiscal results are released later this month.
