Update 2: TechCentral has since updated their article, removing the original date of the 24th (due to an error), and saying that "a well-placed source close to Microsoft" has confirmed the launch date to be 26 October for Xbox LIVE in SA. With Microsoft SA unable to confirm an exact launch date yet, we'll have to mark this down as a rumour, but let's hope it's on the money. Expect more details to arrive as we near the Holiday 2010 period.
Update: Microsoft SA has responded saying that the date given on TechCentral is incorrect, and that an official date is still to be announced. It will, however, launch "by December holidays 2010".
Original Story: Ok. I've marked this as a rumour, but only because I haven't yet received confirmation from Microsoft SA, who all seem to be in meetings at the moment (hopefully working on our migration problem). According to a trusted news outlet, TechCentral, Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox LIVE will launch in South Africa on 24 October.

The supposed confirmation comes just a few hours after corporate vice president for Xbox LIVE Marc Whitten revealed at E3 that South Africa is among a host of new countries which will officially be getting the online gaming service this year, and falls in line with recent correspondence between XG and Microsoft SA who confirmed the service will be available by December 2010.
As soon as we hear back from Microsoft SA, we'll let you know.
