On June 27, 2008, a little unknown site called XboxGaming.co.za opened with its first post. A year on, and XG has seen many changes over the last 12 months. For one, it has a different design, and it's no longer a one man show. But one thing that hasn't changed is the vision, and that's to provide a useful resource for South African Xbox gamers, whether you're a casual or hardcore gamer. Even if we've only managed to help out one person, I feel we're on the right track.
It has always been an important aspect of XG that all sections, whether it be news, videos or screenshots, must be accessible by all South African users. In other words, we would have to host all content locally. This means content will be fast, and accessible by those using local only bandwidth (or have been capped). So I thought I'd do some digging to see exactly how much content is available and what has happened in the last year. And like a proud parent, I want to show them off. So here's some numbers:
- 838 news, guides and review articles
- 1118 Screenshots
- 403 Videos
- 7 Competition giveaways worth an estimated R6,500
- 2 of the biggest Call of Duty Xbox tournaments over Xbox Live in SA
There's still a lot of new ideas and developments in the pipeline (one of which will go live this week), so don't expect things to ease up over here. One year down, and I'm hoping for many more.
