It's not a task to be taken lightly, to expand upon a narrative as revered as the Gears of War trilogy - this is a story which gamers have been following for years, and a legendary trilogy which was neatly wrapped up by spectacular finale, Gears of War 3. Epic Games probably made a good decision then to forgo any kind of "but wait, there's more!" addendum for the first campaign-focused add-on, instead going back to the root of the saga with RAAM's Shadow - a three act adventure casting new light on the events which kicked off the Locust-shredding extravaganza in the first place. Set for release next week, we were given the opportunity to have an early look at RAAM's Shadow, to see just what Epic has in store for the Gears faithful ...

The third and final game - at least in the current story arc - in the Gears of War franchise arrives later this year, and to say we're hyped is an understatement. The Gears of War franchise is synonymous with the Xbox 360 and is one of the most widely known franchises in gaming thanks to memorable characters and locations, and an addictive and innovative multiplayer component. With such a rich and successful history developer Epic Games have their hands full with the upcoming sequel, with fans' expectations higher than ever, especially when it comes to the multiplayer component. So, can Epic right the wrongs of Gears of War 2's multiplayer? If our hands-on time with the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta is anything go on, that's an emphatic 'Yes! ...

Last year's impressive UFC Undisputed 2009 was hailed as the best MMA game ever made. Not an unreasonable claim, when you look at the quality of the fight experience it offered when compared to the somewhat dodgy MMA titles which came before it. With the MMA fanbase growing at a rapid rate, THQ are looking to strike gold again with the upcoming UFC Undisputed 2010, so we took a look at the new demo to see if they are heading in the right direction ...

Bizarre Creations' Blur is the crack cocaine of gaming. It lures you in with a quick hit and then keeps bringing you back for more. It knows that break neck speeds and a levelling system shamelessly cribbed from Modern Warfare will lure in gamers and keep them in a spiral of arcade racing with no hope of release ...

You'll be amazed at the lengths we go to, just to keep you all updated on what's happening in the gaming world. Take this little preview as an example. To bring you up to speed with how Band Hero is shaping up, I played a Taylor Swift song. Three times. Now, while the song may have made my head hurt, the game on the other hand is looking pretty good ...

Among the long list of triple-A titles coming out between now and Christmas, there are also a few hidden gems, diamonds in the rough which have a lot of potential. Artificial Mind & Movement's WET is one such game, following the antics of Rubi Malone, the girl your parents warned you about ...

I loved almost everything about the first Colin McRae: DiRT, except maybe the overly "USA! USA!" vibe which radiated from parts of it. The core rally game was brilliant, but I guess I felt that the other more American style racing disciplines ended up watering down the beauty of the rally experience. Buggies and trucks and things that handle like waterskiing elephants just didn't hold my attention for long ...

I've finally had a chance to play Mirror's Edge with the release of the demo on Xbox Live Marketplace, and I have to say it's living up to the hype. At first, the sound of a game based on jumping around roof tops didn't have that much appeal, but Mirror's Edge not only succeeds in making it fun and enjoyable, it does it in style ...
